The Holy Synod of Albania

     By the grace of God, in 1998, the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania was reestablished.

     The enthronement of His Grace Ignati, Metropolitan of Berat, Vlora, Kanin, and all Myzeqe, took place on Saturday, July 18, 1998, in the St. Spyridon Church in Berat.  His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania lead the service, together with two representatives from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, His Grace Evangjelos, Metropolitan of Pergamos and His Grace Meliton, Metropolitan of Philadelphia.

     In the afternoon of the same day, Archbishop Anastasios and Metropolitan Ignat formed the first core of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, where together with the two representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, they convened an extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod in Tirana.

     Archimandrite Joan Pelushi was chosen as the Metropolitan of Korca.  Prior to this he has served as a professor and dean at the Theological Academy “The Resurrection of Christ” in Durres.

     The Venerable Fr. Kozma Qirjo was chosen as Bishop of Apolonia.  He was one of the earlier generation of priests, who had heroically continued baptizing and celebrating the Divine Liturgy in a secret way even during the cruelest years of religious persecution.

     Archbishop Anastasios with Metropolitans Meliton and Ignatios, celebrated the ordination of the Metropolitan of Korca on the 20^th of July together with a large number of the faithful in the Annunciation Church in Tirana.  Whereas the enthronement was held in the metropolitan church “The Lifegiving Source” in Korca on July 25^th.

     On July 23^rd, Archbishop Anastasios, together with Metropolitans Ignatios and Joan lead the enthronement of the Bishop of Apolonia.  Protopresbyter Jani Trebicka was designated the General Secretary of the Holy Synod of Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. 

     On August 11^th, 2000 His Grace Kozma Qirjo passed away, leaving the throne of the Bishop of Apolonia vacant.

     On November 11^th, 2006 at the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, they decided to raise three of our Church’s archimandrates to the level of bishops- Demetrious Sinaiti, Nikolla Hyka, and Andon Merdani.

     Archimandrite Demetrious Sinaiti, was appointed Metropolitan of Gjirokaster (The metropolis in which he has served for the past 15 years as a substitute metropolitan).

     On November 16^th in the Annunciation Church of Tirana, Archbishop Anastasios, His Grace Ignatios, and His Grace Joan lead the episcopal ordination service for Archimandrite Demetrious Sinaiti.  The Enthronement Ceremony for the Metropolitan of Gjirokaster His Grace Demetrious, took place on November 26^th in the Archangels’ Church in Gjirokaster.

     Archimandrite Nikolla Hyka, who was given the title Bishop of Apolonia, was ordained bishop on November 19^th at the Annunciation Church of Tirana by Archbishop Anastasios, His Grace Ignatios, His Grace Joani, and His Grace Demetrious.

     Archimandrite Andon Merdani, who was given the title Bishop of Kruja, was ordained bishop on November 21^st in the Annunciation Church of Tirana by Archbishop Anastasios, His Grace Ignatios, His Grace Joani, His Grace Demetrious, and His Grace Nikolla.

     His Grace Nikolla and His Grace Andoni are from the new generation of Albanian clergy, formed in the Orthodox Theological Academy “The Resurrection of Christ” in Durres.

     The Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania is now comprised of the following members: Archbishop Anastasios as head, Metropolitan of Berat Ignatios, Metropolitan of Korca Joani, Metropolitan of Gjirokaster Demetrious, Bishop of Apolonia Nikolla, Bishop of Kruja Andoni, and the General Secretary Protopresbyter Jani Trebicka.

Μητρόπολη Κορυτσάς: Η Ορθοδοξία βάλλεται στην Αλβανία

«Η ορθόδοξη εκκλησία βάλλεται από παντού», αναφέρει σε σημερινή ανακοίνωσή της η μητρόπολη Κορυτσάς. Η δήλωσε έγινε μετά τις διαμαρτυρίες που προκάλεσε μεταξύ των ορθοδόξων πιστών της Κορυτσάς από το δημοτικό θέατρο της πόλης του θεατρικού δράματος «Η Παναγιά του Βερατίου», έργο του αλβανού πολιτικού και συγγραφέα Ναμίκ Ντόκλε. Μετά από 5 μέρες παράστασης, χθες η παράσταση ανεβλήθη. Οι ορθόδοξοι πιστοί της πόλης θεωρούν το δράμα «βλασφημία» κατά της ορθοδοξίας. Σε γραπτή τοποθέτησή του σε ηλεκτρονικά μέσα ο ιερέας Μιχαήλ Σανελάρι, αναφέρει ότι το έργο προκαλεί τους ορθόδοξους πιστούς της χώρας και ότι καταφέρεται στο Οικουμενικό Πατριαρχείο και τον Άγιο Κοσμά τον Αιτωλό. Ο δραματουργός Ντόκλε αμύνθηκε ότι πρόκειται για ένα καλλιτεχνικό έργο και όχι για θρησκευτικό πόνημα. Σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο στο κέντρο του δράματος είναι ένας εικονογράφος ο οποίος μεταφέρει σε θρησκευτική εικόνα στην εκκλησία του Βερατίου το μύθο της παραλογής του Νεκρού αδερφού, τον οποίο μύθο ο δραματουργός Ντόκλε τον καταλογίζει καθαρά αλβανικό, που θεμελιώνει μάλιστα την αλβανική εθνική ταυτότητα. Η ανάστασή του νεκρού αδερφού, ο οποίος και στα αλβανικά διατηρεί το όνομα Κωνσταντίνος, είναι, κατά το συγγραφέα, επιβεβαίωση της αλβανικής μπέσας. Ο κλήρος αντιδρά διότι η εκκλησία αναγνωρίζει μόνο την ανάσταση του Κυρίου, αλλά στο τέλος κερδίζει η ιδέα ότι ο αλβανισμός υπερβαίνει του θρησκεύματος, ή τουλάχιστον αποτελεί την ουσία της αλβανικής ορθόδοξης εκκλησίας. Ο ίδιος ο συγγραφέας υποστηρίζει ότι το έργο αποτελεί ύμνο για τις προσπάθειες Αλβανών πρωτεργατών, όπως ο Θεοφάνης Νόλης, για την ίδρυση της Αυτοκέφαλης εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας. Ωστόσο, παρά το γεγονός ότι η είδηση κατέχει κεντρική θέση σε όλα τα αλβανικά ΜΜΕ, είναι έκδηλες οι προσπάθειες που καταβάλλονται για να θεωρηθεί η αντίδραση μόνο μιας μικρής ομάδας πιστών, υποκινούμενων, μάλιστα από άλλα κέντρα. Εντούτοις, ενοχλημένες εμφανίστηκαν οι αρχές και το θεατρικό σώμα του δημοτικού θεάτρου της Κορυτσάς, αυτό διότι οι διεκπεραιωτές του συγκεκριμένου έργου είναι στην πλειονότητά τους ορθόδοξοι. Αναμένεται ταυτόχρονα και η αντίδραση της επίσημης αρχής της Αυτοκέφαλης Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας. Το συγκεκριμένο συμβάν αποτελεί συνέχεια που πυκνώνει τελευταία κατά της ορθόδοξης εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας. Στα μέσα του 2011, η Ορθόδοξη Αυτοκέφαλη Εκκλησία της Αλβανίας αντέδρασε σκληρά κατά της ταινίας του Αλβανού καλλιτέχνη Εντμόντ Μπουντίνα «Μπαλκάν Μπαζάρ», μια ταινία η οποία δυσφημίζει τους ορθόδοξους κληρικούς και την ορθοδοξία στην Αλβανία. Επίσης έντονη ήταν η αντίδραση της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας και για το γεγονός ότι η απογραφή του πληθυσμού του 2011 στην Αλβανία, έβγαλε τους ορθόδοξους στη χώρα μόλις 6,75%, τη στιγμή που ιστορικά σε όλες τις αλβανικές και ξένες απογραφές στην Αλβανία, οι ορθόδοξοι αποτελούσαν το 21-25 τοις εκατό του πληθυσμού της χώρας. Την ίδια στιγμή πληθαίνουν οι αντιδράσεις κατά της αδιαφορίας των κρατικών θεσμών και αρμόδιων φορέων για το γεγονός ότι η ορθόδοξη πολιτιστική παράδοση, εκκλησίες, μοναστήρια και άλλη χώροι δέχονται αλλεπάλληλες επιθέσεις καταστροφής, λεηλασίας και βεβήλωσης. Χαρακτηριστική η δήλωση στον αλβανικό Τύπο του ιστορικού από την Κορυτσά Νίκο Κοθέρια ο οποίος μεταξύ των άλλων αναφέρει ότι. «το έργο καταστροφής των θρησκευτικών ιδρυμάτων δεν σταμάτησε από το 1967, από τότε όταν ξεκίνησε και ο πόλεμος κατά της θρησκείας» (το 1967 Αλβανία κηρύχτηκε επίσημα αθεϊστικό κράτος) Ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση κάνει το γεγονός ότι η κρατική Επιτροπή Επιστροφής και Επιδότησης των Περιουσιών, με απόφασή της επέστρεψε σε δήθεν πρώην ιδιοκτήτη στην περιοχή Λικένας της Κορυτσάς, ορθόδοξο ναό του 14-15ου αιώνα με ανεπανάληπτες θρησκευτικές και πολιτιστικές αξίες. Theofania në Sarandë

Tashmë është bërë traditë që e kremtja e ujit të bekuar në mitropolinë tonë të festohet me madhështi në qytetin e Sarandës, kjo për vetë faktin se pranë kishës ndodhen edhe ujërat e detit Jon. Kjo Liturgji u kryesua nga mitropoliti i Gjirokastrës Dhimitri ku përveç besimtarëve të shumtë që merrnin pjesë, në të merrnin pjesë edhe konsulli i konsullatës Greke në Gjirokastër z. Nikolla Kotrokois, Ministri i Punëve dhe Çështjeve Sociale z. Spiro Ksera, kryetari i komunës së  Livadhjasë z. Irodh Dalani dhe kryetari i komunës së Finiqit z. Sokrat Spiro. Kryqi këtë vit u kap prej të riut nga Saranda me emrin Foti. Me shumë shprestari kjo ditë u prit edhe në qytetin e Përmetit ku kryqi u hodh në ujërat e lumit Vjosë. Përveç këtyre qyteteve që përmendëm, kjo festë u kremtua edhe në qytetin e Gjirokastrës, Himarës, Dhërmiut dhe Këlcyrës.

Theofania në Vlorë

    E kremtja e Theofanisë, ose Uji i Bekuar, një nga festat më të mëdha të Kishës Orthodhokse. Sot përkujtuam Pagëzimin e Zotit tonë Jisu Krisht në Lumin Jordan. Ai nuk kishte nevojë të pagëzohej për veten e Tijë, Ai ishte i pa mëkat,por u pagëzua për shpëtimin tonë. Ai u bë si ne që ne të bëhemi si Ai. Ai mori mbi vete të gjitha mëkatet tona që ne të shpëtojmë.
    Edhe në Zëvendësinë e Vlorës kjo e kremte u festua në të gjitha Kishat. Pas Liturgjisë Hyjnore u bë edhe Bekimi i Ujit në ambientet e Kishave. Në Kishën e Shën Theodhorëve pas Liturgjisë Hyjnore të gjithë besimtarët u drejtuan për te vendi i quajtur Moli i Vlorës. Pas ceremonisë së rastit u bë hedhja e Kryqit në det nga Atë Kostandin Prifti. Kryqi sivjet u gjet nga besimtari Klodi Shani.
    Në Kishën Shën Athanasi të Selenicës në mëngjes u celebrua Liturgjia Hyjnore gjatë së cilës u lexua edhe përshëndetja e Mitropolitit të Beratit, Vlorës dhe Kaninës, Imzot Ignatit  drejtuar besimtarëve me rastin e kësaj dite të shenjtë.
    Pas ceremonive të kryera në Kishë, besimtarët u drejtuan për në Lumin e Vjosës. Edhe sivjet të rinjtë e Selenicës sfiduan ujërat e ftohta dhe të rrëmbyeshme të këtij  lumi. Për të kapur Kryqin u hodhën të rinjtë Romeo Bombaj, Damiano Mitraj, Mateo Bombaj dhe Dhimitër Beko. Kësaj here kryqin e nxorri nga ujërat e ftohta  i riu Mateo Bombaj. Më pas besimtarët përcollën deri në qendër të qytetit të riun Mateo Bombaj të cilit i uruan të ketë mbarësi në familjen e tij.

"Logos" University Began the New Academic Year

Most of the students who have graduated from this school are employed.

    Twelve years ago through the initiative and care of Archbishop Anastasios the Professional Institute "Spirit of Love" (in Tirana, and in Gjirokastra), were established in which more than 1,000 students have been prepared. Two years ago through Archbishop Anastasios’ initiative and care the school for higher education named "LOGOS" University began functioning.
 On October 15, in the reception hall of "Logos University," the opening of the new school year with the first year students commenced. Registrations have closed and in the first year alone so far about 100 new students have been registered and every day there are new requests. At this ceremony the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ilia Telo gave a speech, in which he thanked the students for choosing this school. Among other things he said:
          "This was a very good choice for the following reasons:
1. We have a qualified and dedicated academic staff: This assessment was made by a German expert when our school was accredited.
2. Our school is licensed and accredited by the relevant authorities. In July of this year approximately 150 students were the first to graduate and most are employed in accordance with the needs of the labor market.
3. Our school has very good facilities, auditoriums, laboratories, computer equipment, an English language library and literature in foreign languages etc.
4. LOGOS  has established cooperative relationships with universities throughout the country, as well as outside. It is noteworthy to mention the agreement with the Universities of Piraeus and Thessaloniki with whom, among other things, we are looking forward to organizing together the master programs for our students.
5. Our school prepares students not only theoretically, but also practically. The students of our school perform their medical practices in specialized laboratories, while those studying economics, in a serious major or important company, etc.
6. Our school has reasonable fees, lower than other universities.
The word "logos" is derived from Ancient Greek and means “study, analysis, research”. For this the reason, we want to prepare specialists, researchers, analysts and not just simple technocrats.
    You need to study systematically. From my long experience in pedagogy, I advise you that things which are learned quickly, are forgotten quickly; while those that are studied systematically, become your permanent property.
   In conclusion, I want to emphasize that we undertake to prepare you for life. Also you need to learn English well, because the Master programs, in collaboration with the other universities, will be in English.
  Then the Vice Rector and Dean of the Economics Faculty, Prof. Beatrice Pollo, wished all the students a successful new academic year, but also pointed out that "Logos" is a University with strong discipline.

Vini re me çfarë shkronjash të mëdha ju shkrova me dorën time. Sa duan të duken të mirë në mish, këta ju detyrojnë të rrethpriteni, vetëm që të mos përndiqen për kryqin e Krishtit. Sepse as ata që rrethpriten s’e ruajnë ligjin, por duan të rrethpriteni ju, që të mburren me mishin tuaj. Por për mua qoftë larg të mburrem për tjetër gjë, veç për kryqin e Zotit tonë Jisu Krisht, me anë të të cilit bota është kryqëzuar tek unë, dhe unë tek bota. Sepse në Jisu Krishtin as rrethprerja nuk ka fuqi, as parrethprerja, por krijesa e re. Edhe për të gjithë sa ecin sipas këtij rregulli, paqe e përdëllim qoftë mbi ta, dhe mbi Izraelin e Perëndisë. Ungjilli Llk. 16:19-31
Edhe një njeri ishte i pasur, dhe vishej me purpur e me stoli të kuqe, duke gëzuar përditë ndriçim.  Ishte dhe një i varfër që e kishte emrin Llazar, i cili dergjej pranë portës së atij plot me plagë,  edhe dëshironte të ngopej me thërrimet që binin nga tryeza e të pasurit; por edhe qentë vinin e lëpinin plagët e tij. Edhe i varfëri vdiq dhe u pru nga engjëjt në gjirin e Abrahamit. Vdiq edhe i pasuri dhe u varros. Edhe në hadh, ku ishte në mundime, ngriti sytë e tij e sheh Abrahamin së largu, dhe Llazarin në gjirin e atij.  Edhe ai thërriti e tha: O atë Abraham, përdëllemë, dhe dërgo Llazarin, që të lyejë majën e gishtit të tij në ujë, dhe të më ftohë gjuhën; sepse po mundohem në këtë flakë.  Po Abrahami i tha: O djalë, kujtohu, se ti i more të mirat e tua në jetën tënde, dhe Llazari gjithashtu të këqijat; po tani ky prehet, e ti mundohesh.  Edhe mbi gjithë këto, në mes nesh e jush është ngulur një pafundësi e madhe, që kështu ata që duan të shkojnë së këtejmi tek ju, të mos mundin, as të andejmit të kalojnë tek ne. Edhe ai tha: Të lutem pra, o atë, ta dërgosh atë në shtëpinë e tim eti sepse kam pesë vëllezër; që të japë dëshmi ndër ata, që të mos vijnë edhe ata në këtë vend të mundimit.  Abrahami i thotë: kanë Moisiun dhe profetët; le të dëgjojnë ata. Edhe ai tha: Jo, o atë Abraham; por në shkoftë ndonjë nga të vdekurit tek ata, do të pendohen. Edhe ai i tha: Në qoftë se nuk dëgjojnë Moisiun dhe profetët, as në u ngjalltë ndonjë nga të vdekurit, s’kanë për t’u bindur.
